Some pictures of the after effects from the storm front that swept through the Illawarra on the 5th April 2024

Post 2024-04-05 storm and flash flood

The sun was out after the storm and the Sparrows were out on the hunt.

This white faced Heron was poking around in the puddles left by a flash flood caused by a massive storm the night before.

Just hours earlier, the grass the Heron was poking around in had been under three feet of water.

Anything that wasn't a well established tree got flattened by the flood. At one point every single one of those young trees was under water

Still plenty of water running through the rivulet at this point. I think it will take a couple of days for the overflow from the mountains to clear

Birds are one of my favourite things to photograph. Not only do they come in all sorts of different shapes, sizes and colours but they're also wonderful to catch on the wing.
